You can spot the Minoan town of Gournia as you travel south east of Aghios Nikolaos northern coast of Crete A fantastic example of Minoan ruins that was excavated by an American archaeologist between 1901 – 1904. An entire ancient town was discovered at what we now call Gournia Even though the original name of this Minoan town is unknown. Gournia has been dated to around the middle-late Minoan period of 1700-1400 BC or how about an archaeological digs site of great importance just a short hop over the Greek border!
